2000 years ago, a man by the name of Jesus of Nazareth, born in Palestine, was judged, beaten, tortured and condemned to a horrific death. The government, religious leaders and people of that time let it happen
Today more than 60,000 people of Gaza, West Bank and Jerusalem, born in Palestine, are being judged, beaten, tortured and condemned to horrific deaths. The governments, religious leaders and people of our world today are letting it happen.
JESUS CONDEMNED TO DEATH:
Palestinians have been judged, and innocent or guilty, condemned to death.
JESUS SCOURGED AT THE PILLAR:
Palestinians detained in prisons, without charge, beaten brutally.
JESUS CROWNED WITH THORNS:
Palestinians detained in prisons, without charge, humiliated, raped, tortured, traumatised for life or left for dead.
JESUS CARRIES HIS CROSS:
Palestinians carry the weight of a cross of unfathomable grief with the loss of spouse, children, extended family, homes and lands.
JESUS DIES ON THE CROSS:
More than 60,000 Palestinians have died, while many more will die either burnt to death, or bombed to death, or bled to death, or starved to death or left to die under the rubble.
OUR RESPONSE
In general, the States of the West, in their own interests, side with the oppressor, the most powerful State seen to be complicit in the genocide.
Some governments at best pay lip service to maintaining international law, at worst remain silent, ignoring calls to act.
The Christian Churches either turn a blind eye, or weaponize scripture, or take cover under neutrality or remain silent.
Many people remain ignorant or indifferent and fail to act.
In spite of it all, we are called to be pilgrims of hope and channels of peace.

Thank you, Barbara. My sentiments as well, and painfully so.
I hear the news and see the photos and I think God must weep. I know I do.
Excellent comparison.
