What is Discernment?

Discernment is much more than making everyday choices about what we do or where we go. It is a sacred process of deepening our relationship with God and  learning to listen with the heart and to trust the gentle movements of the Spirit within us.

Through discernment, we are invited to:

• See our lives as God sees them — with compassion and purpose.
• Recognize the deep desires planted in our hearts and allow them to be shaped by God’s dream for us.
• Freely and lovingly respond to the path where God’s Spirit leads.

“The path of discernment begins by listening with the heart.”

Discover your purpose through faith, connection, and service.

This year, the Sisters of Our Lady of the Missions, Canada Province invite young people to journey in faith and discover how God may be calling them. Through monthly gatherings, prayer, and shared reflection, participants learn to listen deeply, grow in community, and explore the call to religious life, marriage, or single service.

This is a space to grow, pray, and serve — together discovering the joy of walking where the Spirit leads.

The Summons Dance:
The International RNDMs Mission in Canada

To mark July 26, the date when many RNDM Sisters in the Canadian province made first vows, the Sisters who gathered for the Summer Learning Symposium 2024 presented this dance.

They gathered near the Celebration Maple tree, planted in 2023, at the end of our annual Assembly, to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the first RNDM Sisters arriving from France.

We offer this song/dance/prayer, as an invitation to young women who may sense God calling their names, calling them to be a Sister of Our Lady of the Missions. Come join us.

Will you come and follow me
If I but call your name?
Will you go where you don’t know
And never be the same?
Will you let my love be shown,
Will you let my name be known,
Will you let my life be grown
In you and you in me?
