March 2020: Virtual Book Launch: The History of the RNDMs in Canada

The Sisters of Our Lady of the Missions: From Ultramontane Origins to a New Cosmology

by Rosa Bruno-Jofré

The above video is about the Sisters of Our Lady of the Missions in Canada, written by Rosa Bruno-Jofré entitled The Sisters of Our Lady of the Missions: From Ultramontane Origins to a New Cosmology.

When Covid 19 became a world-wide pandemic in March 2020, we had to cancel the mid-March book launch for this just-released history.

When it became clear the pandemic would not be over in a couple of months, we considered a virtual book launch, and produced this video to be part of that virtual event. In this production, we were fortunate to work with Bruno-Jofré, and doctoral student Peter Glinos.

In the video, you will hear rich insights from the author, as well as historians Margaret McGuinness, (Department of Religion and Theology, La Salle University); Elizabeth Smyth, (Professor Emeritus OISE, Toronto); Heidi E. MacDonald, (Dean, Faculty of Arts, University of New Brunswick); and Thomas O’Donoghue, (Graduate School of Education, The University of Western Australia). They are joined by RNDM Sisters Veronica Dunne, Denise Kuyp, and Sandra Stewart in speaking to the process of writing the book, the methodology employed, and the conclusions that emerge about the Sisters of Our Lady of the Missions in Canada.

Host of the conversation is Peter J. Glinos who at the time of recording was a PhD candidate at Queen’s University.

We offer this video here on our website, for in-depth information and insight into the book.

On October 5, 2022, we were finally  able to have our book launch in person, which you can read about here:
