Welcome to RNDM Canada
The Sisters of Our Lady of the Missions (RNDM) Canada are part of an international community of Catholic Sisters who live and work in twenty countries around the world. In Canada, we principally reside and work in the provinces of Manitoba and Saskatchewan.
In each country, the Sisters are responsive to the needs of the people and region. As educators, health professionals and social workers, we view our commitments through multiple lens:
- a lens of earth
- of reconciliation with Indigenous persons
- of refugees’ safety / well-being
- and of the full flourishing of women
Our growing awareness of earth as one community of life focuses our work for today and for the future!

The Sisters of Our Lady of the Missions:
From Ultramontane Origins to a New Cosmology
By Rosa Bruno-Jofre · 2019
This vision was placed within the framework of eco-spirituality and inserted in a new cosmology that included the celebration of womanness and social justice.
Using archival research, conducted in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Sturry, England, and Rome as well as oral interviews with RNDM sisters, this book deals with questions regarding the work of sisters in schools and the part they played in the educational state in formation.
The details of the congregation’s work in schools show how the sisters’ educational work was related to the social characteristics of the communities (e.g., those of French Canadian settlers, British immigrants, the Métis population, and continental European immigrants), first in Manitoba and Saskatchewan, and later on in Ontario and Quebec.
Rosa Bruno-Jofré argues that the congregation’s work was part of a major attempt on the part of the Church to carve a space for itself in the educational state in formation. The Sisters of Our Lady of the Missions examines the impact of Vatican II in the 1960s, and into the 2000s, as well as the dismantling of neo-scholasticism, and the process of secularization of consciousness in society at large. The emerging issues led the congregation and the province to examine their individual and collective identity at the intersection of feminist theology, eco-spirituality, and a critique of western cosmology.

Life is abundant with blessings. And one of the greatest blessings is the opportunity to spend time in relationship with God and others in community.
Eco-Spirituality
For hundreds of years, those who have been interested in the spiritual life have found that exposure to the beauty of the Earth is a way to make God powerfully present. In recent times, many persons of faith have become interested in the ecological movement and a new awareness of the transcendence of the Cosmos.
Called to Eternal Life
On Monday, February 3, 2025, the great, generous heart of Cécile Marie Campeau stopped beating, and she surrendered her spirit back to Creator. She was 97 years of age and had been a devoted member of the Sisters of Our Lady of the Missions (RNDM) for 75 years.
Born in Ponteix, a small French-Canadian village in southwest Saskatchewan, Cecile completed elementary school in-town, and then decided with her characteristic determination and courage, that she would go to Sacred Heart Academy in Regina for her grades eleven and twelve. And so she did. After graduation, with the same determination and courage, Cecile went to the novitiate of the Sisters of our Lady of the Missions (RNDM), and on July 26th, 1950, she made first vows in the Congregation.
Cecile’s life was one of faith, service, and devotion. She touched countless lives through her work in education, leadership, healthcare, and pastoral ministry. Her legacy of kindness, wisdom, and commitment to her faith will continue to inspire all who knew her. We already miss her smile and her contagious sense of humour.
