A little bird hops next
to an older one
looking up in the sky
“Ma, why do you sing?
She curiously asked.
The mother bird
smiles and responds
“When I was young
I awoke each day,
flapping my wings
as hard I could
then slowly, gradually
I began to lift myself
high above the branches
Then one day,
the wind came and whispered
You’ve done well on your own,
will you want to see,
what we can do together?
With a gust,
I was lifted high
Up into the sky
soaring and gliding,
Looking about,
below and around,
amazement and wonder
filled my sight,
It was then
When my singing
took flight.”

What an “uplifting” post. Thanks for the image of wind whispering wisdom. And in that letting go, recognizing that as the moment when song took flight. Simple, profound, and challenging!!
Your post reminded me of what God can do with “surrender.” Thanks very much, Weeyaa, for a perceptive allegory.
I enjoyed reading this so much, I had to immediately read it again. Now I’m going to watch with special interest the interactions of mother robins and their fledglings in our garden and wait for a wind to see what they “can do together.” Thank you very much for sharing your insights.
So beautiful, Weeya; ‘looking about, amazement and wonder…it was then when my singing took flight.’ What a great ‘recipe’ for living life.
PS.Love that drawing of the birds!
