Mom's Fudge

Mom’s fudge is science and intuition. Basically, here goes:
Cook Time 25 minutes
Cooling time 30 minutes
Total Time 55 minutes

Equipment

  • 1 medium saucepan
  • 1 greased pan

Ingredients
  

  • 2-3 cups sugar (I only use 2 cups, but Mom used 3)
  • 6 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp vanilla extract

Instructions
 

  • Mix all ingredients together well.
  • On high heat, bring to boil then reduce heat to maintain boil but less than full boil.  Cook for 20-25 minutes, adding butter at the 18 minute mark.
  • Add two tablespoons of vanilla extract when you remove the fudge from the heat. Mom and I never measured this….always a free pour 😊. 
  • Stir the fudge until creamy, usually about 5 minutes of stirring.
  • Pour fudge into a pre-buttered pan.  Let cool and enjoy.
